    Me vs Velociraptor
I could survive for 1 minute, 6 seconds chained to a bunk bed with a velociraptor

So, here's the deal, I'd destroy a Velociraptor. The one in the picture is way bigger than a real one. Real ones only come up to your knee caps. I'd probably get a nasty bite and some big gashes, but I would crush it.

    Prefered strategy:
Me up top. Raptor jumps up. I grab it by the head, hopefully avoiding a bite. It tries to pull it's head free, animals instinctively pull back if something gets around their neck, they can't help it. Depending on what happens from there I either begin slamming it's head on the bunk or try to immobilize it's legs and arms exactly like you would a large bird. If I can immobilize it I'd just start elbowing the nape of the neck and back of head to stun/kill/paralyze it.

If I can't get it's head when it jumps up I'd try to kick it off the bed then jump it if it doesn't land properly.

What is more likely is that I'd be in the top bunk waving my arms and hissing and the raptor would be on the ground freaking out hurting itself on the chain trying to get away.

    Life is poop
Recent months have brought a lot of death and tragedy to friends and family. A friends little baby died... All these things have been shaking me pretty hard. More anger than sorrow I think. Angry at the world, angry with myself. I get pretty confused and simply turn inward. Because there is nothing I can do that doesn't just end up feeling wrong. The meager shallow words that seem to be all I can offer to others, and I hate it. So I end up here in fucked up high school self pity. Any creativity I have evades me in these situations and I wish for a way to make sacrifice, something, anything that could make a real difference.

    When making hot chocolate...
Use canned coconut cream instead of water! It makes it extra tasty, not that coconut flavored cause the chocolate dominates, and adds thickness which plays up the chocolate very nicely. I added some ginger to the mix too for some spiceyness.

Come hang out in Georgetown on June 28th!

Artopia June 28th in Seattle Noon -10PM

I'll be running a creature swap booth in Georgetown for this year's Artopia event. Come on by, draw a creature and trade it for one someone else has drawn. I'll have materials for folks at the booth. During the event I will be doing demonstrations and answering questions for the curious. Creatures from the demonstrations will be given away to participants of the creature swap.

    :D Anyone going to Sakuracon?
My ass will be there with the infamous General Merekat working the artist alley. I've got paper craft, mini paintings, sketchbooks, and tiny tiny prints...oh and a hellish load of home brew tiny buttons!

Life's been pretty damn crazy lately.
Someone awesome in my family died this week and it fucking sucks. I'm happy she isn't suffering any more...but that just sounds weird when I think about it. We keep crying, but are glad to have had the time we spent with her.
Trying to focus on preparing everything I need for the convention.
The General is gonna teach me how to use a sewing machine this weekend. I own one, but don't know a damn thing. My first project involves pegasus and pegacorns.
I took a flame working course a few weeks ago and have made a slew of necklaces with one of a kind beads. Some of them came out pretty sweet. Plus playing with fire and molten glass rocks.
I tried using Oovoo for the first time and accidentally sent a test video to my whole mailing list when I tried to ADD my mailing list to the service. Oops...
I got a new cell phone that has a calendar and a to do list on it and I think it's the best thing ever. Someday...I will get that mini computer grafted into my wrist, but for now this is pretty slick. Normally I just write things on my hand. I feel advanced.
I thought my printer was broken, but found out I was just using a kind of paper it isn't friends with. Yay not dead printer.
Taz is still a cantankerous little fluff ball.
I've been spending a lot of time with the Matts doing stuff. That's rad.
I learned how to roast and clean squid. How did I live before?!
    Got my taxes done. Woot.
Got rid of a bunch of junk.
The house is a god damn mess...I need to stop filling up my schedule so I can relax and clean and chill.
    Culdcept Saga ftw!
    I miss Georgia.
I want to go on another trip, but damned if I know when I'll have time and dough for it.
I really want to learn how to animate and build giant monster costumes.

Well, most of whats been going on with me is just trying to continue learning new things, making new things, and trying not to feel poopy about myself. I'm my own worst enemy, but I suppose that's not too bad a spot to be in.

Unfortunately dot easys default page maker is kind of lame and I havent figured out if it will allow me to add an image gallery yet...

That which I can't believe is not on the internet
This HAS to have been invented. It really has to have been. Though I have not found hide nor hair of it on the internet. I only find misleading namesakes.

This is a recipe for the very lazy. It requires one skill: pulling a thing out of the oven before burning it.

Official Mother Fuckin' Cookie Pie Recipe

    Simple:
1 pie crust with pie top and tin(usually in freezer or cookie dough section)
1 package of precut cookie chocolate chip dough(Pillsbury or Tollhouse are what I've used)

    Heat oven to 450 degrees.
Place cookie dough evenly in bottom of pie and squish dough until it forms a roughly uniform covering on the bottom.
Put pie crust on top and pinch edges to form edge of pie top. Cut a few slits in pie crust before baking to release gas.
Bake for 20 minutes or until golden. Check periodically during baking to prevent burning the crust. If your crust begins burning before the time is up try turning the oven down a few degrees.
Let pie rest for 30 minutes.

The dough will not be cooked hard, so it will be somewhat gooey, and tasty...

It is a giant cookie in a pie crust, it is awesome, it will destroy you. Tastes best when warm with vanilla ice cream.

    Augmentations:
    Smore:
Use a graham cracker crust with a regular pie crust as the top.
Pack a layer of small marshmallows and chocolate bits as hard as you can into the bottom of the pie and layer the cookie dough on top.
Put regular pie crust on top and cut slits.
    Cook same as simple recipe.
This is mah favorite! Also the crust will rise more than in other recipes because the marshmallows expand when cooking. It's important to cover the marshmallows well with the cookie dough and the pie crust.

    PBJ:
    Use peanut butter cookie dough.
Pack a layer of your favorite jam or jelly on the bottom on the pie and put cookie dough on top.

    Ultra Chocolate Chip:
Pack a layer of chopped walnuts, chocolate bits, and shredded coconut into the bottom of the pie and layer cookie dough on top.

I made a whole bunch of different kinds of these and to keep them in order I drew little letters and patterns into the pie crusts.

Now what I need to do is figure out how to get ice cream into the pie.

One last post for today, this one is a rant that has been building up for years
I *heart* graffiti. It's an incredible art form with a very cool community, throw ups, stickers, stencils, electrografs, oh man I love it. However, I hate motherfucking taggers. Specifically the Seattle tagger 3A. Writing and scratching your street name on everything in Seattle is ugly and I fucking hate people like you who destroy the art by giving it a bad name. You aren't an artist asshole. Just stop, or grow some fucking balls and put in the time to make an actual piece motherfucker.

Back from vacation, here's a cookie recipe!

This is a mod to a recipe I found on Martha Stewart...I have very mixed feelings about Martha Stewart... Most of them involve hissing.

Makes about 24 largish cookies, make smaller balls for more!

    • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature(mmmmm)
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 3/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    • 1 1/2 cups oatmeal
    • 1 cup crystallized ginger bits
    • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
    • 1 cup walnuts
    • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
    1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together flour and baking soda. Mix butter and sugar in a different bowl as whipped as you can get it.  Add the egg and mix. Add vanilla extract and mix.
    2. Add the flour a bit at a time and mix thoroughly. Add oatmeal, ginger, chocolate, and nuts; mix well.
    3. Pat out pieces of dough that are 1 1/2-2in wide and 3/4 in thick. Bake on parchment-lined baking sheets, until golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes(though I think I like them better done at about 12min). Let cool after baking. I sprinkled some powdered sugar on top afterwards using one of those teaball thingies as a mini sifter, worked great!
I cut some of the cookies up like tiny pizzas and was pretty happy with that as a way to make small bites that were still moist and chewy. That way I'm not faced with the choice of finishing off some giant cookie and feeling sick because I've already been chomping snacks all day. Damn you Halloween!

On another note, if you have need to work with black light ink, you can totally add light colored acrylics to it to make it more permanent and have better coverage. It won't change the color of the ink's glow at all.

Also, I've come to understand one of Washington's "secrets" recently. If you heart cheese and you live in Washington then you NEED to be aware of Cougar Cheese. It comes in a giant can and can only be shipped in cool weather. Uhm, it's not from real cougars... I know, I'm disappointed too. Also it's better to drive or order from the creamery directly because it'll be twice as much(if you can even find it when it isn't sold out) in other places.

If I don't answer, I may not be dead
Next Friday I go on the trip I have been wanting to set upon since I was a tot, albeit not quite in the way my imagination had in mind.

Holy crap I am going to the GALAPAGOS on a effin hundred year old ship! 8O
It's called the Sulidae, which makes me giggle because that basically means I'm going to be sailing on a Booby. Set sail Booby!
    Things I plan to do:
Take tons of pictures of animales
    Get a foxy tan
    Eat myself stupid
Poke a tortoise and or penguin
    Stay drunk for ten days
    Draw a ton!
Try not to be seasick the whole time
:D Maybe make some new best friends

I'm a little sad because we aren't taking enough time off to hang out in Ecuador at all. It'll basically be a nature trip, which is rad, but I likes me some culture too. Especially the part where I find weird stuff to eat. I loves eating weird stuff.

    I'm reaaaaaaaally excited!

Aside from trip planning I've been working on my Halloween costume. It's sort of a stylized deer skull with glowy eyes and a pink mohawk. Phinney likes the head, but I'm not sure he's wild about the rest of what i was gonna wear. I hadn't really planned that part out very well. Maybe I'll get some samurai pants... I'm waiting for the invisible black light paint to get here so i can make it extra killer.

    I LOVE LEDs.

I want to make a giant light bright out of LEDs. :D Hooray conductive spray paint!

    San Fran Ahoy
I'm heading to San Francisco in the morning. Phinney's cousin is gettin' hitched. I'm looking forward to seeing his folks again. They're pretty fun people. We still need to visit in Tennessee.

The Barred owl came back last night. He caught a mole in front of my Brother's desk. Geez, he sure is a cute owl. His eyes are big black alien eyes that blink very slowly.

I'm still waiting for my owl/cat genetically engineered super pet.

We've been watching Veronica Mars. It's good, but the cleavage makes me uncomfortable. Call me old fashioned, but I like my teens covered up. Sure most of the actors are probably pushing 30, but it still weirds me out.

    I'm very very very tired.

    Jubes
So the vet finally got the results back from Jubes' necropsy. She had fatty liver disease. From the way she was acting I think a piece of fat probably got into the blood stream and went to her heart or lungs.

I've got the birds on a pellet and nutri berry diet so it probably developed from genetics or may have had to do with her previous history.

    I'm happy there are answers.

    Jubes is gone
I stayed at home today. I've been sick all weekend. James feels sick too. I'm glad we stayed home. Jubes died a little after five. I heard her squeal and found her struggling for breath on the cage floor. James saw her die while I was writing down directions to the animal hospital. She rolled onto her side and faded away. She had been completely fine shortly before and was gone in five minutes. The autopsy will come back in a few days. The vet didn't think she choked or was egg bound.

Taz keeps shrieking so I turned the lights off. We showed him the body, but he didn't understand. He's trying to find where she went.

    Poor birds...

Instead of adding the requested ingradients add these:
    Coconut Oil instead of Butter
    Soy Milk instead of milk
Add a couple tablespoons of unfiltered Sake
As much fresh(or not) Basil as you can handle
    A little black pepper

    Golden Compass
I'm very excited about this movie. I have no idea how they are going to pull off naked gay angels and kids attempting to kill GOD in a main stream film, but I'm eager to see what they do! Heck, you can't argue with magical armor clad polar bear warriors!

I know I should be happy but...
My ambition destroyed my weekend. I've been working all weekend and it's been the sunniest most wonderful outdoorsy weather.
James did manage to get me outside for a little bit yesterday, he sweet talked me with cabbage rolls. That's right, cabbage rolls, and secondary that's right, JAMES made ME go outside and stop working. Is it opposite day or what?
